I can't get into the settings without the password, and even checking on another machine, there doesn't seem to be any reset system in place. Avast Free came pre-installed in my new laptop, but I'd like to go back to the Antivirus that's included free with my internet provider. And I've tried reinstalling, using the inbuilt reset function, and even the uninstall tool to try to wipe it, but every time it starts up it asks for the password. I've just enabled the Passwords manager feature in Avast Free edition, but I can't tell if they're also still saved in my Google Chrome 'Remember Passwords'. I just want it to forget it was ever activated and start from scratch again. However, I can't get it to reset the database. Now that isn't really a problem, as I said I don't plan on actually using it on that machine. I'm fully aware that losing the password means losing the database. I've tried everything and can't get back in. However, today when I went to type out the procedure for activating it and needed to go back through it, I discovered my password isn't as obvious as I thought. As it's not something I'm actually going to use on that machine, and it was late, I entered an obvious password as my master password.
